Join Dr Paul Barnes, Head of the Risk and Resilience Program at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute as he addresses these issues at the 2017 Australian and New Zealand Disaster and Emergency Management Conference.

Dr Paul Barnes is also a visiting Associate Professor at Flinders University within the Torrens Resilience Institute. He was previously Deputy Director of the Centre for Emergency and Disaster Management (CEDM) at the Queensland University of Technology and coordinated the Centre’s Infrastructure research theme.

He has wide experience in public sector roles at both the State and Federal levels. He was the inaugural Manager of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority’s (QFRA) State Community Safety Unit. During this time he chaired the National Community Education Sub-Group of the Australasian Fire Authorities Council and served on the State level working groups on critical infrastructure protection and biosecurity, as well as the Queensland whole-of-government Multi-agency Threat Assessment Team.
