The 2018 Australian and New Zealand Disaster and Emergency Management Conference is almost here again, this year the Conference will be held over the 21-22 May at The Star Gold Coast.

Mr Adam Harbord

Abstract

Mass Notification Services help organisations communicate quickly and effectively with staff or members of the public during an emergency or a business disruption.

There are a number of capabilities that are critical to have in an emergency, such as two-way communication, flexibility of formats and channels (to use as many modes of communication as possible), message targeting, ease of use and reliability.

During the presentation I will look at some of the characteristics of emergency notifications and examine six powerful mass notification functions that are often overlooked. Understanding the benefits of these features will hopefully spark new ideas about ways to better utilise mass notification, while providing a greater return on investment.
