Multi-million dollar emergency services training centre with exploding buildings

EXPLODING houses, collapsed buildings and a replica ship that burst into flames are all part of a new multi-million dollar training facility for the state’s emergency workers, which will be officially opened today.
The Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre is set on 19ha in Craigieburn and provides a range of different learning environments for emergency services personnel to practice rescues and highly-specialised training scenarios.
A network of gas lines and fire simulation props bring the facility to life and gives emergency services personnel the chance to finetune their skills in realistic but safe environment. The mock-village also features strip shops, a petrol station and a typical Melbourne terrace house for rescue and emergency response training.
